Craig Mosedale is aiming to complete the Scisscett Sprint Triathlon to raise funds for the RFL Benevolent Fund. The Triathlon consists of an 18 length swim, 15k bike ride and a 5k run and Craig is hoping to complete all this in only 1 hr 20 minutes.
“Rugby league is very close to might heart, as I have played the game for many years both at school level and amateur open age for Moldgreen ARLFC for the past 10 years. Recently in the last few years I had a three month trial with Batley Bulldogs under Gary Thornton and Barry Eaton. I was playing in the team on the day when Danny Scott was seriously injured against Sowerby Spartans in January 2004. I know that the fund has helped Danny immensely which is the other reason I chose the fund.”
“This is a really big challenge for me as I have never competed in a triathlon before so I thought it would be really fitting to involve Rugby and the charity in my challenge. I have finally hung up my Rugby boots and am now training really hard every morning for the Triathlon, I have the likes of Chris (spugy) Thorman helping me with stuff like hill sprints and a whole host of other drills, I also have Charlie Baker who is a triathlete and PT instructor at Total fitness Huddersfield, I am also doing strength training with Greg Brown Assistant conditioner at The Huddersfield giants.
We have a very close relationship with the players and coaching staff at the Giants as we run St Andrews motor company in Huddersfield and we have a Gym at the rear of our garage where the Giants train on a daily basis so I speak with them on a daily, so in terms of my training I think I’m in very good hands and looking good to come in with a very good time and hopefully a load of money for the fund.”
