The British Lions held their inaugural partnership dinner with the RFL Benevolent fund to raise over £4000. Nearly 300 British Lions and their guests attended a lunch time fund raising event at the Cedar Court Hotel in Bradford in order to raise monies for the RFL Benevolent fund. John Power himself an Oldham Rugby League player who suffered serious spinal injuries ten years ago when playing for Oldham as a teenager spoke to the guests about the work of the RFL Benevolent fund. The event was hosted by well known MC Malcolm Lord alongside interviewer  British Lion Mick Morgan. A number of Lions were interviewed including Roger Milward, Neil Fox, Alex Murphy and Ray French. The event also awarded Roll Of Honor to June Kennedy, a Workington Town stalwart of 30 years, Martin Coyd for his work done in establishing Armed Services Rugby League and Raymond Fletcher Rugby League statistician for over a quarter of a century. The event was a great success and former British Lions Chairman Ray French commented “this is a perfect partnership to raise money for a good cause within the Rugby League family and at the same time share the camaraderie and special friendships that exist within the British Lions.
